Recognized endorsed by 1 major authority
Coordinating/representative body for small Sub-Saharan Jewish communities; supports kashrut and religious life. Not a commercial product-certification agency. Member countries include Botswana, DRC, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Eswatini, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Founded 1992. Spiritual Leader & CEO Moshe Silberhaft ('the Travelling Rabbi') serves Botswana, DRC, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Eswatini, Uganda, Zambia & Zimbabwe. These small communities (e.g. Zimbabwe/Harare, Zambia/Lusaka Beit Talmidim, Namibia/Windhoek, Botswana, DRC, Angola, Senegal) rely on the Beth Din of South Africa / Kosher SA for halachic standards and imported certified product rather than maintaining independent product-certification agencies.
How to use this safely: a listing here is not an endorsement. Only trust an authority if one you (or your community) already follow recognizes it — see the “endorsed by” tags above. Standards vary by community and by individual ruling, so always confirm with your rav.
